Annual Mid-Winter Dinner
We had a fantastic night full of good food and great conversation for our annual Mid-Winter dinner and silent auction fundraiser. In the ‘Olympic’ theme, the night was enjoyed by all. Thank you to those who contributed items, helped in the kitchen and made the night such a success!
Hi all. The All Saints Birkenhead website has been on hiatus while I have been on leave. A huge thank you to Max Cranch and Michael Berry for their work in the parish in my absence. It is good to be back.
Come and here about my trip this Saturday 30th July at the Men’s Breakfast. $10 towards breakfast, starting at 7:30am. See you there. – Jordan, Vicar.
Quiz Night Recap
A huge thank you to all the parishioners and their friends, for a very successful night. It was great to see so many new faces – one visitor said she enjoyed it so much she is keen to come to the next one!
Jordan was a commanding quiz-master, not easy when challenged about answer variations. Great to see his voice was fine for the sermon the following Sunday.
Colleen’s raffle basket, that was brimming with goodies, was won by Don Gallagher’s friend Rae. The winning team on the night who will enjoy wine, movies and chocolates was Susan Maclaine’s. The questions thanks to Gillian and Glen Whitley were user friendly but managed to sort the winners and the almost winners.
The prizes were donated by the local businesses and we thank them for their generosity – Kathmandu in the city, T2 in the city, Crave, Life Pharmacy Birkenhead, Paper plus Birkenhead, Bliss Hair salon, Auto Super Shoppe Birkenhead, Bridgeway Cinemas, Ravenhill Cafe, Standingroom Cafe, Bunaglow Cafe,Tongue & Groove Cafe, Golden Glow Candles, Casual Foodies, and The Warehouse.
The total raised for the mission and ministry of All Saints was an amazing $ 1611.20!

Join us this Sunday as we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost.
Lent traditionally began on the first Monday in Lent (day after First Sunday in Lent). Therefore the 4th Sunday in Lent was half-way through Lent: Mid-Lent Sunday (in French mi-carême). This allowed for some feasting to ease the Lenten fast. Some visited the mother church of the diocese on this day, and gave a donation. Servants and apprentices often visited their parents with “mothering cake”. Both are part of Mothering Sunday which we celebrate this Sunday the 6th March.
Lenten Study: In Am With You
Episcopal priest and theologian Kathryn Greene-McCreight examines the biblical portrayal of God’s presence among us as light in darkness. Close readings of Scripture are woven into a framework patterned on the seven monastic hours of prayer and the seven days of creation. With an introduction by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, I Am With You is a reflective and thought-provoking guide to the solemn season of Lent.
Join us for our Lenten study taking place each Sunday until Easter commencing on the 14th February at 5:30pm in the Church Hall. For material relating to the study please contact the office at email@example.com
Join us as we begin the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence; from the Middle Ages it became the custom to begin Lent by being marked in ash with the sign of the cross. Ash Wednesday takes place forty days before Easter (excluding Sundays), representing Jesus’ time in the wilderness. We will be offering two services, one at 10am, and another at 7:30pm Wednesday 10th February.
We look forward to seeing you as we start the journey of Lent together.
Vicarage & Rental Working Bee
A group of parishioners gathered to trim the hedges at the Vicarage and Rental property on Saturday 16th. A huge thank you to Eric Bowater, Colleen Stott, Irene Greatbatch, Ray, David Roberts, Ted Cutting, Laurie Wesley and Trevor Pugh for the amazing effort!
