I hope this finds you well. As we have moved to Level 1 we have had 2 services a week, one on the Wednesday at 10am and the other on Sunday at 9am. Vestry met last night to determine what we will do in the future particularly on the Sunday. The decision has been made to continue with the one service on the Sunday at 9am until further notice. This does not mean we will stay like this forever but rather review it as we keep up to date with the latest information.
We made this decision taking into account some factors. Firstly though we are in level 1 we are still not completely out of the level system. And as witnessed yesterday there is still the chance COVID-19 can get into the country and spread once more. As a church community made up of a majority of older people who fit the vulnerable category we thought it better to wait a little longer before we move back to two services.
The other factor is cleaning. We endevour to make sure the church is cleaned after each service. With 2 services this is a lot more difficult as it would have to be done between the services. And lastly I know many have enjoyed coming together as a whole church community for worship enabling people to met those from other services and participate in a ‘larger service’.
I know for some this will be disappointing as many of you have an attachment to the earlier time as well as the quieter service. I want to encourage you that as mentioned this is not forever and if you are really looking for a more quieter service the 10am Wednesday service is perfect for that. And so i want to advertise that service as an alternative as well.
